For parents and guardians

Tell us how your child’s school works for your family

A test score can’t say whether a school tells you how your child is doing, answers when you get in touch, or makes you feel welcome. You can. 7 short questions about this school year, answered anonymously.

What we promise, and what we can’t

  • We check an email, not that you have a child here

Anyone can confirm an email address. We ask you to say you’re a parent or guardian of a current student, and we take your word for it. That’s why these answers are always labelled unverified and self-reported.

  • Your answers are anonymous by design

We store your answers with the school you choose, the school year and the twice-yearly release they join. Not your email, your name, an account, nothing that identifies your child, or the time you answered. There’s no comment box, so there’s nothing to name anyone in.

  • We keep no copy of your email

Your email goes to a separate verification service, which sends you a link that works for 24 hours. It keeps only a scrambled fingerprint of the address, so one address can answer for up to 3 schools a school year, once each, and that fingerprint is never stored with your answers. Our email provider, Resend, keeps a record of the message it sends you, including your address.

  • Your answers aren’t shown, only how many families have answered

We’re collecting answers now. If we publish them at all, it will be only as counts, and only for schools where at least 20 families answered in a school year. Even the count of families moves only twice a year, when new answers are released all at once, so timing can’t point to who answered. Answers given now join the release on January 15, 2027.

  • Never part of the Scope Score

Parent answers never enter the Scope Score, rankings, search or comparisons, and we never sell them. Every question is about how the school works for your family, never about a teacher or any other person.

  • Once sent, answers can’t be withdrawn

Because nothing links an answer to you, we can’t find yours to change or delete it. Please answer only when you’re sure.

Answer for your child’s school

How the separation works

The verification service sees your email for one job: sending you a link. When you open it, your browser gets a signed, single-use pass for this school year. The pass carries nothing about you and no school: you choose that here. SchoolScope checks the signature, records the pass as used for that school under a scrambled code made with a secret only this site holds, and holds your answers until release day.

In short: the service that checks your email never learns your school, and our database never stores your email. That protection comes from keeping the systems apart, not from math that can’t be broken. Neither the verification service’s key nor our database on its own can link an email to the schools it answered for. Someone who got both services’ secrets and a copy of our database could. The details are in our privacy policy.
